Message From Landon and Aja

Hello!

We just thought we'd take a minute to introduce ourselves and say thanks again for your interest in Team Mercy Project!

I (Aja) am a middle school reading and writing teacher.  Landon is an oil and gas attorney.  We've been married for a little over four years and live in downtown Houston.  No kids (yet), just two Beagles who are basically like our kids.  We started running a couple of years ago when two co-workers of mine gave us their Houston Half Marathon entries  and we decided on a whim to run it with my dad--though he left us in his dust, since he had actually been training!  But, we had a blast and from then on we've been hooked.  We signed up for the Chicago marathon and the Goofy Challenge in Disneyworld and haven't looked back since.  This past year, we decided to try out some triathlons and love it just as much!  Landon finished his first full Ironman this past summer and I'm signed up for a half in October.  Somehow, over the past couple of years, working our has become our main form of entertainment. :)

We both met Chris and Stacy, the founders of Mercy Project, while we were in college, but went our separate ways after graduation.  Then, about 6 months ago we heard about what they were doing with Mercy Project and were instantly taken by the pictures and stories of the kids they were working to rescue from a life of slavery.  Separately, both Landon and I began to feel like God was calling us to do something more with Mercy Project and not just sit around and talk about how sad it was about all the kids in slavery in Ghana.  Then, one evening, during a road trip home from Fort Worth, we began talking about it and the idea for Team Mercy Project--a way to take something we love doing and use it to change a child's life-- was born.

We can't wait to see what will happen when a group of everyday, ordinary people commit to come together to use something as simple as running to change the lives of a group of kids who desperately need someone willing to fight on their behalf.  We're excited and honored to join with you to do just that.

See you at Cowtown!
