Getting Started

We at Team Mercy Project are going to be an interesting collection of individuals to say the least. We will have everything from high school students  to executives running/walking for a single cause - to save the lives of kids in Africa.

So Landon and Aja, I have talked it over with my significant other, friend, or dog and I have now overcome my fears and I am willing to sign up for a Half-Marathon or Marathon. What do I do now? How do I join Team Mercy Project? and how does this work?

Great.  Welcome. We are honored to have you. Running for a cause is an excellent way to enhance you life, get some exercise, and truly make difference. Two steps get you "on the team".

1) Email TeamMercyProject@gmail.com saying "I'm in"
2) Sign up for the Cowtown Marathon or Half Marathon.

Done and Done. You are on the team.

After those two simple steps it is all just a matter of preparing for the race and raising some funds... the easy part :). If you are doing the Full Marathon check out the "Marathon Training Program" tab and if you are doing the Half Marathon check out the "Half-Marathon Training Program" tab.

The Full Marathon Training Program will begin October 25th and the Half Marathon training program will not start until December 6th officially. Both have a nice gradual start, and we have both walking and running plans for both races.

As far as fundraising goes we are going to ask for a minimum commitment of $500. So what does that mean? What happens if I can't make the $500? First, I will tell you that you can. We are raising money for a very worth while cause and with a little effort you can easily get over that $500 dollar amount. We will be there to help you with ideas, raffle opportunities, and online support. And second, if you don't raise the money we would be honored to have you still run with us. This is not the MS150; this is supposed to be a good thing for everyone involved. We are here to make a difference in people's lives. Including yours! Come and join us on this adventure.

We will be doing the fund raising through an online website such as http://www.firstgiving.com/. You will have your own personal story that will allow you to easily direct people to your website and donate.

So that's it; that is what it takes to get started. As we grow and figure out more details, you will be the first to know.

Feel free to send any questions you might have to TeamMercyProject@gmail.com
